About ChessHunter

Built by a chess player, for chess players

The Mission

ChessHunter exists because serious preparation shouldn't require hours of manual research. Whether you're preparing for a weekend rapid tournament, a league match, or an OTB classical game, you deserve to know where your strengths line up against your opponent's weaknesses.

We aggregate publicly available game data from Chess.com, Lichess, and FIDE to produce comparative “Hunting Analyses” — matchup-specific reports that highlight exploitable opening mismatches, style tendencies, and form trends between you and your opponent.

Who Built This

ChessHunter is a solo project by Celian, a competitive chess player and software engineer based in France. The idea came from a simple frustration: before every tournament round, manually cross-referencing opponents across Chess.com, Lichess, and FIDE took too long and the insights were scattered.

ChessHunter automates that entire workflow — fetch games from all platforms, compare repertoires, identify mismatches, and deliver an actionable game plan in seconds instead of hours.

Data Sources

  • Chess.com — Game histories fetched via their public API. Blitz, rapid, bullet, and daily games.
  • Lichess — Game histories fetched via their public API. All time controls and variants.
  • FIDE — Official ratings, titles, and federation data from the FIDE ratings database. Synced daily.

All data used is publicly available on these platforms. We always fetch fresh game histories at analysis time to ensure accuracy.

How It Works

  1. Search — Find any player by name, Chess.com username, or Lichess username. Over 5,000 player profiles indexed.
  2. Hunt — Select your profile and your opponent. ChessHunter fetches the latest games from all platforms.
  3. Analyze — The engine compares repertoires, detects opening mismatches, and identifies exploitable tendencies.
  4. Prepare — Get an actionable game plan with specific openings where you score and they struggle.

Pricing

ChessHunter is freemium. Free users get 1 Hunting Analysis per week with full results — no content degradation. The Hunter plan ($8/month) unlocks 100 analyses per month and unlimited PGN exports for players who prepare frequently. See pricing details.
